Then he was back to bed. I followed an hour or so later.
Around 3 am he woke me saying he couldn't breathe! I called 911 and the ambulance took him away! The last time he would be in our home, but I didn't know that then.
I also didn't know they had to intubate him in the ambulance, or I would have stopped them. But I'm so glad I didn't. He was in ICU for several days and finally convinced his doctor that he did not want to be on all those machines with all those tubes. Doc complied and he was taken off all of it except the O2. AND was put in a regular room.
For the next 10 days he was up and down. I never knew when I went to visit if he was in ICU or a regular room.. if he was semi conscious or wide awake! It was a horrible roller coaster for me.
On his last Sunday I came to the hosp from a memorial service for a friend and knew we had to talk. He told me about the music he wanted for his service, a poem he wanted read, etc. It was a great way to say goodbye! And very timely as the next day he was back in ICU and semi conscious.
10 days after he went to the hospital, on February 24th, my beloved left this planet to be with our Lord. How do I know he's with God?
That is another story.....
