I'll admit, I've been selfishly dealing with so much pain in my body that without a reminder from a dear friend, Jnona Rhode, I would have let it slip by.
Dear Lord,
There is so much to pray for in this world of ours. I'm certain that you are very aware of all of it. I am also certain that you know our hearts and know what we want to pray for... but still.
God there are things I cannot imagine, cannot even fathom. All the starving children in this world. You know that I rarely waste food, but I know it is wasted especially in the USA. And the children who are starving are dying a horrible death. And the poor parents who are also starving, give up their own food for their children, who have to watch these painful deaths of their children. I cannot imagine. I fought hard, worked as many jobs as it took, to keep my five fed when they were growing up. I admit we ate some pretty weird stuff sometimes. But they never went to school without hot cereal in their bellies!
Lord I know that you do not choose for all the pain in our world to happen. Yes, you can stop it all with a blink of your eye, but we know that is not always the best way. Lessons need to be learned. And allowing bad things to happen to good people must be painful for you.
We all pray for peace. We all pray for the safety of our families. We all pray for safety from the storms, floods, blizzards, mudslides, fires, etc. etc.
I hope most are praying for the courage and strength to go out and spread Your love to the world.
I truly believe that the only thing that will bring us the peace we want and need is to fill the world with love! To give up the protests and violence and just love! To offer each other, no matter what color, a hand and not a fist!
I believe that only you, Lord, know what is best for all of us. So my prayer is that you do what you think is best for our world.
Amen
