What the heck is 'normal' anymore??
Today a dysfunctional family and/or relationship is the 'norm'.
A family with both parents working, or having 2 or more jobs is normal for some, while being on unemployment or welfare as a lifestyle is normal.
Being in great debt to have the things we want and have them NOW is normal for a lot of people.
Eating at restaurants and fast food places instead of cooking healthy and eating at home with the whole family is normal for too many.
These days a lower than 'normal' temperature plagues us for weeks.
So is our 'normal' changing? Do we need to think differently about what is 'normal'? What do you think?
Wow just watched the Oscar Nominations... very interesting! Tom Hanks got bypassed.... sad. I'm really anxious to see some of those movies, such as Philomena and Nebraska... also August, whatever.. as I love both Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep...... so much talent mentioned. Bruce Dern! WOW He hasn't been in front of cameras in ages.. will be interesting to see who wins... actually I think WE are the winners with good flicks to watch, most of them... I always like to see the nominees for foreign films and documentarys..... and try to find them to watch.

30 days of prayer:
Day 16, entering the second half of the first month of the year....
Dear God, how quickly the time goes by. I know you want me to do many things for you, in your name, and with you using me. I sometimes feel that the day goes by and I have not accomplished what I should. Please dear God, my prayer today is for you to give me an inkling of what I have done to help others, to love others..... in your name and your way! Some days the only way I have contact with others is online in Facebook! Can you use me, my words, to your good?
My daily goal is to make people laugh. I have been very fortunate to be able to do that face to face. I never know if it happens online. I am almost always able to make clerks at the stores laugh, people I meet in elevators, at the drs offices in the waiting room, nurses, etc. Laughter is like music to me and I do so love to hear it. If making people smile and laugh is pleasing to you, God, then I know I am doing the right thing.
Please be with my friend Marge Branch as she undergoes a CT scan to see if her cancer has spread. OH DEAR GOD PLEASE heal her, don't let the cancer spread this time..... she's been through so much and I do so need her friendship.
If praying for my friends is also pleasing to you then I must be able to make you smile because I pray each and every day for my friends and for those who are not my friends too..... Lord be with everyone who needs a comfort from you.
You know my needs so I will save those for another day.
In Jesus Holy and precious name.
Amen
Did I mention that I had to buy a new microwave yesterday? My old one was shooting sparks and yesterday I saw flames! YIKES! It was a really cheap one I got many years ago... So, knowing that anything I bought would probably last longer than I will, I choose to spend $20 more and got a bigger, more powerful one as I do cook a lot in it, not just warm up stuff. So, purchase made, no regrets and half of what I earned this week is already gone....... not getting ahead much that way huh? But better than setting the house on fire with the old one..
So this was a very interesting trip! First of all, I took the dogs as it's cold out and they would be okay in the car. WRONG! Got to the drs office bldg around 12:30 for my 12:45 appt. As I was getting out of the car Tequila, aka Houdini, slipped out. I had just put my keys in my purse. When I saw that he was out I tossed my purse in the car, and shut the door so Renniew wouldn't escape also...... however, I had already hit the lock on the door in anticipation of heading to the dr. SOOOO now Tequila and I were locked out! I had no phone, couldn't read the number on the windshield for my roadside assistance. Now, remember it's not even 50 degrees out, a little breezy but not bad, and as I had pulled into the spot I was thanking God that it was in the shade!!! So one woman felt badly for me as I was already getting upset. She called HER roadside assistance and they were going to send someone out in 45 min!! After we got that done I took Tequila up the elevator and to the drs office to let them know my situation. He loved it! Got so much attention! I wanted to kill him on the spot! He'd never done that to me before. Okay so now I'm standing outside holding him and freezing waiting for this assistance which didn't appear to be coming. After waiting 35 of the 45 min another woman came and called another locksmith for me and they said 20 min.
Now here are the blessings I got from this:
Parking spot right in front of the door, in the shade so the dogs would be okay in the car.
Several people who were interested in my plight but more interested in my dog! hahaha
The dr's receptionist was awesome and moved my appt to tomorrow after I see Dr Issa in the same building!! woot woot
It wasn't raining! nor was it windy.... thank you Jesus!
The first one called never showed up! It would have cost me $50!
After an hour in the cold and holding the dog, moving into the sun when I could stand it, Ace Unlocks showed up.
He had a key blank that fit and cut me a spare key on the spot!
When I came home and checked my email, the cost was $35 and nothing extra for the key! so far! lol
So all is well. I don't know why I had to go through that, God had a plan I'm sure and maybe it was because a couple women had come up to me to see the dog as they had recently lost their chihauhau that looked similar to him...... ???
I'm home, hungry and going to make some thing to eat....
I cubed up a potato, fried it with onion and garlic and red pepper flakes!! woo hot! I always use a lot of fresh ground black pepper and a bit of salt but not always red pepper. I know it's good for my indigestion. Also fried a huge hamburger patty. I sure will miss having that wonderful ground beef I got directly from the rancher! It is so lean, so tasty! Doesn't hav
