In February of 2001 I met my beloved Oscar in person during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. We had so much fun. He was 69 and I was 60 but we were so in love and acted like teenagers. I felt like a teenager.
We were staying in the home of our friend Birdie, who was amazingly gracious to us. The parade route was only 4 or 5 blocks from her house.. and for 3 nights we walked down there and had a blast.
When we moved to Pensacola I was thrilled to discover that the Mardi Gras parade was part of the tradition here also.
I will dig through my thumb drives and find more pictures for you.
The slide show is this year, 2016. I went by myself as I have for the past 5 years since Oscar died, except one year when my sistr and bro in law came with friends and I caught up with them at the parade.
